Public holidays in Ecuador mainly include religious holidays, national holidays and memorial days. Here are some major public holidays:
Good Friday (Viernes Santo): Usually in March or April, it is one of the most important Catholic holidays and is a national holiday.
Independence Day (Día de la Independencia): May 24, commemorating Ecuador's independence from Spanish colonial rule.
Guayaquil Independence Day (Día de la Independencia de Guayaquil): October 9, commemorating Guayaquil's independence.
